This & that

Hi everyone. Sorry for the long silence. The kids have been trying to see how late they can stay up which means that by the time they are down for the night so is their Mommy. :-)
That is the one thing we have got to get control of around here.

They are doing great. We went to the pediatrician for shots last week and they are both doing fantastic!

Isabel is 32 1/2" tall and weighs 23lbs.

Jackson is 33 1/2" tall and weighs in at 27lbs. (He is very solid so it feels like more than a 4 pound difference between the two.)

This summer my 2 babies will be turning 2. Isabel's birthday is July 7 and Jackson's is August 9.

I just can't believe my babies are toddlers now. We will celebrate their birthdays together this year since they won't know any better just yet. :-)

Isabel's language skills have changed dramatically in the last month or so. It's almost like she woke up one morning and just decided she was going to talk.

She calls me "Mommy" instead of "Mama". (This is my favorite)

One night while I was bathing them I sneezed and she said "Bless you"

She is putting 2 and 3 and occasionally 4 words together at a time.

I can understand at least 50% of what she's saying which is wonderful for the both of us.

She also helps keep Jackson in line. It's so funny to hear "No, no Jackson" in her sweet little voice. She even calls him by his full name when she's really frustrated.

She tells the dogs to go away and "shhhhhhhhh's" when someone (or one of her "babies") is sleeping.

Jackson is talking more and more. He's not as far along as Iz but we're working on it. The biggest change lately is he is saying water instead of "wa". He is trying to complete words now when before all he would say was the first 2 letters. Yea!
He's trying to say "puzzle" and "firetruck"

Eating.......

Isabel eats pretty well. Cereal, hot dogs, cheese, chicken, peas, beans, yogurt, eggs, her Daddy's french toast, raisins, pretzels, popcorn, mac & cheese, spaghetti, mandarin oranges, blueberries, bananas...

Jackson still gets the large majority of his calories from milk. He does eat pasta in various shapes if in a red sauce. He will occasionally eat peas or beans, mac & cheese, cheese, cheese toast, cheese crackers, cheesy grits well, you get the idea. He loves cheese! He does have a lot of food allergies so we have to be careful. When we were at the beach I gave him some vanilla wafers and later realized they have egg in them - oops! He didn't itch hardly at all so maybe he'll outgrow this sooner rather than later.

For those of you not familiar with his allergies he is allergic to:

eggs, pork, shellfish, carrots, melon (pickles, watermelon etc.). I think that's all...

These foods just cause him to break out in an itchy rash so we are lucky as far as food allergies go.

They play well together most of the time. Their gender is definitely more apparent in their choices in toys these days.

Jackson is now in love with all things that move. Trains, trucks, cars. Especially trains! His little face just lights up. When we're in the car he points out every truck we pass. What I can't figure out is why he's scared to ride the train at the zoo. He cries the whole time. Go figure-

Isabel loves her baby dolls. She feeds them a bottle, puts them to night-night, pushes them in the stroller.

They both enjoy the "Little People" toys (so do I :) )

Another favorite toy is a tea party set. They both love it.

Jackson is much more athletic than Isabel. He can go up and down stairs like you wouldn't believe. He runs so fast it can be a challenge to keep up. Isabel, on the other hand would rather be carried around most of the time.

It's been really hot and humid here so instead of the zoo we've been spending A LOT of time indoors at the McWane science center. I've got a ton of cute pictures to share with you.

I recently was made aware of a Children's Hands on Museum which is only about a 45 minute drive so I'm hoping to check that out this week-end. It's hard to find things to do when it's so damn hot out. Looks like it's going to be a log, very hot summer.

That's all I've got for you now. I'll post some pictures next time.
