The State Fair

I had my mind set on going to the fair and we made it! I knew the kids were too little to really ride anything but I wanted to go and I'm glad we did. We only stayed a couple of hours and we missed the "Circus" act but we all had a good time.
Jackson loved the animals!!! Every time he would touch an animal he would just laugh and jump up and down. He was so excited. Isabel took awhile before she even wanted out of the stroller. I don't think she was too impressed with all the farm animals. :-)
There were 2 ferris wheels - one was like a bucket and we could all ride together so we chose that one. They were both ok at first but after a few minutes Jackson decided he was no longer happy. He did do better than I expected but still not loving it. Isabel is much more laid back in those situations.
Next we watched the monkeys riding the dogs. The kids acted like we see monkeys dressed and riding dogs every day. They were not really interested. Kids......., go figure!
They loved the "carnival game" with the plastic ducks in the water. If you don't know - very simple - the kids just pick a plastic duck out of the water and on the bottom of the duck is either an "S" for small, "M" for medium (you get the idea) and that lets you know what size prize you may chose from. Of course we got all small prizes but what I didn't expect (I probably should have) was that my kids wanted nothing to do with chosing a prize, they wanted to keep the ducks. (We left with 3 little stuffed animals)
We ate popcorn, hot dogs, corn dogs (all healthy fair food, right?). We did skip the cotton candy, but maybe next year.
Next year I'll let them ride the kiddy rides. I think Iz would have been fine but I would've been too nervous to let her enjoy it. They were tall enough but they still seem like such babies at times!

This picture was a complete accident but I just love it!

Celebrating two birthdays

This past Sunday we celebrated TWO birthdays! Our first birthday party was for Jimmy's 2nd. Jimmy's Daddy works with Kevin and they actually share the same birthday (9/16). The party was at the grandparents house and it was the perfect place for a party. The outdoor area at their house is just beautiful.
Our second birthday celebration was for Kevin. We had a family dinner at Mom's to celebrate. Last year I had a big surprise party for him (it was his 40th) so this year was lacking in fanfare (sorry honey) :)

The kids are doing great - still loving school. I hate to compare my 2 kids to one another so I asked at school this morning if Jackson's speech was behind or comparable with the other kids and if Isabel was with the other kids or advanced for her age. I got good news- Jackson is right where the other kids are and Isabel, I was told, is "exceptional". So I'm a proud Mommy today. Jackson has shown signs of interest in counting and numbers but not so much in the alphabet whereas Isabel can say her ABC's much better than she counts. She also loves to sing. Her favorite song to sing is "Twinkle, Twinkle little star". She sounds like an angel. Last night I heard her say, "Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday". She also like to watch dvd's more than Jackson so I think that may be helping with her speech. Jackson had much rather play with trains than watch Dora.
We also are trying Jackson out on egg again. We've let him have birthday cake and cookies, even a couple of bites of Isabel's scrambled egg. He is itching a little bit but not the horrible rash we are used to seeing so maybe it will be gone completely very soon. The allergy Dr said to periodically try testing his allergies and with egg being the hardest to avoid I'm hoping!!!!

Here are some pictures from Jimmy's party:
